Chookshed Challenge Progress

This is as far as I am going with the Macaron Mystery Quilt for now. 

I have all the blocks made and all the sashing strips made and sewn together. I sewed the blocks and sashing together in diagonal rows. My thoughts are to add a 1 inch black border around the center, then a 3 inch border of the creamy background. Then frame the whole thing with that dark focus fabric. I am hoping to have enough for a 5 inch border. We shall see. 

This is the problem I ran into earlier. Those quarter square triangles on the outer triangle units are a bit big. That means the other half of those are all too small. So, I have to figure out how to grow the others so I can complete the rest of the triangle to fill in the outside edges. That is a problem for another day. 

I have a Writing Workshop here this Sat and I need to put away all my quilting toys from the SonRoom to make room for humans who want to learn how to write their stories. I am so excited! 

In the meantime, October will be the final month for the Chookshed Challenge. The last project on my original list is Serendipity and I just do not want to work on that one. Instead, I will work on the Churn Dash SAL Chooky challenged us with 2 years ago. I made a great start then put everything into a project box. I have it down here ready to pick up and play with next week. I am also taking part in Leanne's WIPS-B-GONE challenge. I will have a project list made up for Oct 1 and To-Do Tuesday. How is that for planning ahead?

WIPS-B-GONE 2024

Leanne at Devoted Quilter is again hosting a let's finish up some projects challenge this fall. I do want to finish some projects. I have been half-heartedly working a variety of quilts this past year. No completions, but progress. Part of my problem (I have a few) is that I get bored with the same old same old. Dying to start something new. And I have several options for new. But then I beat myself up mentally by trying to convince myself that I really should finish some before I start more. Anyone else play mind games like that? 

I am really good at making lists. And checking them twice and thrice. But then I do the ADHD thing and totally forget all about the list and do anything else but what is on it. 

There are really cool habit tracking charts she has made available for daily checking off progress. I love these! Tiny sewing machines this time. 

Actually, I have a monthly habit tracking chart I colour in each time I write and each time I do some sewing or stitching. I write more often than I stitch. I write by hand. On paper. 

 My To-Do Tuesday list includes:

1. Write up a to do list. 
2. Check it twice to make sure it has on it what I really want to do. 
3. Begin a realistic list for the WIPS-B-GONE for Oct and Nov. 
4. Check it twice to make sure it has on it what I really want to do. 
5. Clear away some of the sewing clutter I have brought into the SonRoom. 
6. Leave only the things I really want to use in the coming weeks. 

I will be hosting the women's small group that I had been leading for several years. I have passed the baton to one of my girls who is going to be leading a Bible study called Broken Crayons Still Color by Shelly Hitz. I will be leading a couple of Writing Workshops this fall to encourage women to begin writing their stories. I am so excited about this. 

It is that time of year for our local fall fair. The fairgrounds are 2 miles south of here on the same road we live on. Problem is, Northbound traffic has been closed for several months as they are creating not 1 but 2 round-abouts on the bridge over the local expressway. This makes for so many fewer trucks and other vehuicles. But it is awkward to get anywhere and then get back. This is only one of several road closures around here for construction. We have this saying here in Canada. We have 4 seasons. Almost winter. Winter. Still winter. And road construction.

Macaron Mystery Progress

 There is noticable progress.

However . . . 

There are serious hiccups.

I chose to use some of the solids in my collection. 

Not all of them are in the focus fabric,

which I love. 

I started making mistakes a month ago and 

just kept on making more. 

So. 

This will go into the endless closet of unfinished projects. 

For now. 

I have to clear the sewing stuff out of my SonRoom for small groups meeting here this fall. I started seeing a new chiropractor a couple of weeks ago. I drive into the city twice a week and there is significant improvement in my lower back. And, I am now able to roll over. Haven't been able to do that for a long time.
