I joined Chooky and friends for a marathon stitching day. Well, some of them did marathon all day Saturday. I joined in for a few hours Friday night but all the grandchildren were here and in and out of my room. It was wonderful as well as distracting.
Then Sat morning a few other friends joined me and we stitched and chatted away all morning.
The finger has healed very nicely and I was prepping a whole bunch of Ella blocks. I traced the patterns onto the back of the fabric square then basted some of the pieces to have lots of hand applique ready to do.
The little boy grandchildren are homeschooling now and we are getting a new internet provider this weekend. This should give us at least 3-4 times the download speed than what we have had. As I was writing this, the power went out for two seconds. Just enough to turn off everything then turn it back on. All except the computer. Fortunately, the new blogger saves everything immediately when I stop typing. I like that. Word, however, does not. I have to hit the save button. I was working on a course the other day and left my computer on for several days. We had one of those two-second power outs and I lost about 3 pages that had not been saved. But what I don't understand is, all documents are auto-saved when the computer is turned off with open documents. I could not find those pages anywhere, so I had to do them over. Not a big crime. It was only 3 pages and not original stuff as I was outlining not creating.
Blessings,
Chris

Glad your finger has healed so well, now you can get to appliqueing again. Sounds like you have a full house of grands to enjoy. Happy stitching!
ReplyDeleteSo glad your finger is healing and you can stitch again. Your applique looks interesting. Homeschooling is hard, especially when the internet is not up to speed. I know that some of my university students fade in and out of my online class as it is happening. Thankfully everything is recorded and they can watch again at their leisure.
ReplyDeleteThe Ella blocks look amazing! Congrats on being able to sew again. I once sprained my arm and not being able to sew was the worst part of it!
ReplyDeleteHi Chris, good chatting with you at the zoom party. Glad your finger is well again.
ReplyDeleteGlad your finger is better. Hope the internet problems get solved. Lovely Ella blocks!
ReplyDeleteYou are always so busy! I'm glad the finger is better, it's always a shock to realize how much one uses a finger! It was lovely visiting at the Chookshed, see you next time, I hope!
ReplyDeleteWe sure love our computers when they are working properly and speedily. I tried to do an update today and waited 20 minutes without it even advancing the percent updated. Living in rural areas hurts us when it comes to internet service. I hope your new provider works well.
ReplyDeleteTechnology issues are never fun! It is nice that Blogger automatically saves these days, though. Enjoy your Ella stitching!
ReplyDeleteA marathon stitching day sounds fun. As for computers and technology, they always seem to throw a curve ball. Glad your finger healed well. Happy stitching.
ReplyDeletewow just had to google your applique project, it's amazing.
ReplyDeletehappy sewing....
Glad your finger healed well enough to do your applique! Happy appliquéing.
ReplyDeleteYour blocks are looking great!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed Chooky's zoom and meeting so many new people! Your applique blocks are just gorgeous! xx
ReplyDeleteAh the fun of power outages! Have you thought of buying a battery backup? I haven’t priced one recently but they give you 5 minutes to backup your computer or document and then turn off the computer. I had one when I worked and it was really helpful. Luckily we don’t have lengthy blips of power outages.
ReplyDeleteLove autosave while typing feature. It does save hours of having to redo work when the computer shuts down unexpectedly. I'm impressed you got any work done with the grands running in and out. One of the advantages of quilting is that you can stop and start up again so easily. Your plan to prep your appliqué for those interludes when you can stitch is perfect.
ReplyDeletegreat to have you join us sewing....life is always busy and nice to have the grandies around.....
ReplyDeleteI certainly need faster internet......I had lots of me freezing moments after you left.......lucky I could still hear and see everyone ok.......computers are great and super annoying all in one.......
