CCCQ Block # 12

Almost done

CCCQ block # 12
Not too excited about the outcome of those very tiny little reverse applique rose buds. I should have it completed today. I am hosting and teaching the Second GORF retreat here starting today with dill pickle soup for lunch.
I remembered the potatoes this time.

GORF Blessings,
Chris

  1. You are really churning these blocks out girl! Do you plan to sew the top together now? Is there a pieced border? I know I've seen this quilt on other blogs but I can't picture it right now. Have a great retreat.

  2. There is no border. I have most of the finished blocks squared up already and will be sewing them together very soon. I still have to quilt the thing and horror of horrors, at 2 am this morning I was thinking maybe I could hand quilt the thing in sections.

  3. I'm sure it would be lovely hand quilted, but do you actually have the time? Aren't you working on at least 4 other applique projects now and starting the Morrell Quilt in January? Besides writing a book, leading a Bible study, guiding a quilting group that meets at your house and what about babysitting the grandchildren?

    1. Well it was a thought. I have been thinking about trying hand quilting without a frame. And all the other projects are on hold until I complete it. But then, I do need a reality check once in a while.
Besides, I am retired. Sort of.

  4. If you try hand quilting without a frame, be sure to bring it along in November. I want to see how it works. I'm so used to my old quilting frame, I just can't catch on to using a lap hoop to quilt.

    1. I was thinking about quilting by hand without a frame or hoop. I saw a tutorial about it once and thought it was doable and hang the quilting police and 14 stitches to the inch.
Actually, the first quilt my sister in England made, I was appalled to see her sitting on the floor, using orange thread and no hoop or frame and doing stitches that were about 3 to the inch.
I am thinking about it and do not you dare challenge me or dare me or I just might have to do it.

    2. Bring it along to Shipshewana and you can hire one of the Amish quilters from Lolly's to quilt it. That would be the easiest way to get her done. They do nice work. I won't challenge you to hand quilt her, you already have enough to do.

    3. I need it done by Dec 1, 2015. But that is a great idea. Maybe I could bring my Baby Jane and get it done by hand.
