Crazy thing happened to blogger tonight. All my stats have disappeared. I wonder why. Maybe posting twice in the same day was over load. Numbers keep us left brain function people checking things out all the time and then some more.

| CCCQ Block # 12 |
Maybe by the time I quilt this and its washed, no one will notice that the wreath is not perfectly round.
Blessings,
Chris
Well done Chris! Have you fussy cut the flowers with a Dear Jane fabric? That's what it looks like. The wreath isn't supposed to be round anyway. I love it.
ReplyDeleteHand quilting - ummmm, there are so many other quilts to make - if you machine quilted then it would be done and you could get on with something else.
Yes it is a Dear Jane pink. It is the only fussy cut flower I did, I think. Just 1 more block to go. I have a deadline for this quilt now, so hence the pressure to get it done.
DeleteWay to go, another block finished. I'll be sure to check back later tonight for a preview of the last block.
ReplyDeletemore progress on CCCQ 33 but am also in the middle of a GORF retreat here so have to pay attention to my students.
DeleteYou're so funny, Chris -- who says the wreath is SUPPOSED to be perfectly round? I think it looks better slightly imperfect like yours. That's what it would look like if you bent real flower vines into a circle. Also, antique quilts would never have a perfectly round vine wreath, either. That's what makes your block look like the real deal. The only blocks like this that I see that are totally perfectly round are made with fusible applique, embroidery modules, or some other technology that was not available to quilt makers long ago. I love your block and I think it's "perfect" just the way that it is!
ReplyDelete'Thank you Rebecca Grace. You made my day. We are in the middle of a Quilting at the Farm GORF Retreat and trying to figure out how to make a perfectly round wreath with all of our very modern GO dies.
DeleteHey, Chris! My stats disappeared a couple of times yesterday too. They are back today, so I figured it was a blogspot problem that has now been resolved.
ReplyDeleteYour CCCQ block 12 is beautiful. I have never tried to make a perfect round in a quilt BECAUSE I assume it is really difficult. Your wreath is lovely!
mine did come back too. I followed the pattern. The original was not round I am told by the owner.
DeleteIs it possible to appliqué something perfectly round? I like to think you can't, it makes my life easier. The block is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI traced the circle from the pattern onto the background with a frixion pen then stitched down all the leaves then the buds, trying to keep them in line with the circle. But some of my stem ends were doing to show so I moved the bias wreath strip over to cover up the thread ends. That's my story and I am sticking to it.
