How can life every be the same again
for this Canadian
after spending three glorious days learning from
the infamous Di Ford-Hall from Australia
at the Shipshewana Retreat in Indiana, USA?
I have waited two and a half years for this book.
Not disappointed.
Now to turn this
into this
This is as far as I got.
Until next time
blessings
Chris
I look forward to seeing more progress on this quilt. Happy stitching!
ReplyDeleteOh lucky you what a gorgeous project
ReplyDeleteGosh, that looks like a wonderful opportunity! And the warm pinks and golds are lovely -- it's going to be beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you got this opportunity. What a gorgeous quilt. Enjoy working on that and I'll love to see the progress.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy for you to have gotten this opportunity. And what a wonderful beginning you have made.
ReplyDeleteWhere did you purchase the book? Thanks.

DeleteSo glad you enjoyed your time learning from Di - I knew you would!
ReplyDeleteWOW! Is the broderie perse applique fused or needle turned? That's going to be a stunner!!
ReplyDeleteWOW! Chris, what a treat to do this class with Distinction Ford. I am so glad you had this amazing opportunity. Looking forward to seeing your journey and the quilt when it is done. It looks like a lot of work, is it Borderie Perse?
ReplyDeleteYes this is broderie perse. Fussy cutting the design then stitching it down onto a background. In this case, the pink background matches the pink in the bird fabric. I am thinking I will do it by machine since I have several others on the go by hand. I started cutting the birds and flowers but stopped so I could pre wash all the fabrics at home and apply the fusible web before ironing it on and doing a machine satin or button hole stitch. Wish me luck. the little boys want to help with everything including the machine, computer and the tractor.
DeleteDear Chris
DeleteGOOD Luck! As for the little boys, they grow up to become men. My two both wanted to learn so I showed them how to sew. As Adults, they are the one who do the hemming and the mending, not the wives.
Hi Chris,
ReplyDeleteWOW - I can see this was a fabulously fun retreat. How wonderful that you got to partake and learn. I look forward to seeing your progress on this quilt in the very near future. ~smile~ Roseanne
Wowser!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great time....and (clearing my throat) that you spent a lot of money too. ;)
I could tell you how much in US funds but then you would have to convert it to Canadian and that is really scary but still cheaper than flying to Australia.
DeleteJust had to visit - happy you are safely back home. Enjoyed meeting you at the Retreat and it will be fun watching your project come to life...such a beautiful pattern - wish I had signed up for that class too! I will be floating on a quilting cloud for quite awhile too...Di is such an incredible person.
ReplyDeleteDi will be back Nov 2020
DeleteWhat a wonderful time you've had! Great start on the quilt - I know you'll finish it!
ReplyDeleteThat is a really glorious medallion quilt - I'd sure want to make one, too! And yes, I'm a smidge jealous, but in a good way :D
