I started to back baste and needle-turn until I realized that it is layered and overlapped. Also, I forgot to mirror the pattern before drawing it onto the back. so I started all over again planning to do turned edge until I realized that, even though I had turned the pattern around, I cut the shapes from the top not the back of the fabric so we are backwards yet again. I went back to the original where I had basted on only 4 shapes and am fiddling with it and it is working.
I stopped glue basting when I started needle turn. It was just too hard to be pushing that needle through all that glue. i do not even use a thimble any more. I as going to baste with starch until I figured out the over lay thing.
Good looking back basting on your applique block! Happy stitching today Chris.

DeleteI'm working on prepping the same block today! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteIt appears that you do regular needle turn. You don't glue baste? Your workmanship is always perfection!

DeleteHopefully this applique has less pieces than the last block. Happy stitching!
