Bright Jane

Why oh why do I keep putting this on the back burner?

I think because

  1. the foundation piecing hurts my hands
  2. tearing out the papers hurts my hands
  3. the really bright colours hurt my eyes
  4. I have no idea what to do with it when it is done
  5. more interesting projects keep popping up
  6. totally forgot there should be a lot more appliques
  7. I went off the grid a long time ago and am just making small blocks

Each month I eagerly look for the RSC colour and pull out my project box and bring those colours to the top.

I have a check list of what is done and how many of each colour still need to be made.

Then I promptly forget all about it until the next month. Not going to have a flimsy anytime soon at this rate.

And then didn't I go and buy a wide back in the most interesting spectrum of colours just perfect for this quilt.

Which grandchild's bed will it live on?
Blessings,
Chris

  1. That backing is so so perfect! I love it but I love the blocks more of course.

    1. There are so many interesting wide backs available these days. I think there will be enough to make a couple of pillowcases to go with it.

  2. When paper piecing, I score the lines on the paper first thing with the back of an old seam ripper along the edge of a ruler. If I press down just right I get a good crease that comes out so easily when it is time to remove the paper.

    1. I've heard of this technique but keep forgetting it is an option when sewing. Keep asking me if I tried it.

  3. Maybe it's time to bag the fabrics and the finished blocks for one of your granddaughters to finish. I see lots of quilt finishes that are multi generation quilts.

    1. What a great idea!! But then I would have to teach them how to do it and hover over the process. An interesting thought.

  4. It is a delight to see Dear Jane in a non-traditional pallette. It looks great.

    1. This is officially on my 2022 finish the thing list. I made one in totally traditional reproduction fabrics that is still waiting to be quilted.
